Progressive
Company Overview:
Started on March 10, 1937, by a couple of lawyers who wanted to provide vehicle owners with security and protection while making a great investment, Progressive Mutual Insurance Company grew quickly and made its mark selling auto insurance to high-risk drivers.
The first to both allow customers to pay their premiums in installments and offer drive-in claims service, the company launched Progressive Casualty Insurance Company in 1956. In 1971, Progressive went public and, in 1987, surpassed $1 billion in premiums.
While priding itself on innovative business philosophies and services, such as 24/7 claims service and auto insurance rate comparisons, this insurer grew an average of 17 percent per year between 1996 and 2005. Today, it has expanded its offerings to include home insurance for insured vehicle owners and other specialty lines of insurance.
Currently the third-largest auto insurance company in the U.S., Progressive now insures drivers and homeowners all over the nation, who may purchase policies either online, by phone or from independent insurance agents.
With a quest to become U.S. consumers’ number one choice for auto insurance, Progressive makes its home in the Cleveland suburbs and has more than 450 offices nationwide.
Progressive auto insurance quotes are available to customers in all 50 states across the U.S.
