Beware of discount
programs—they’re not insurance plans!
You know the phrase “If it sounds
too good to be true, it probably is”? Well, that goes double for the world of
health care. If a program carries an attractively low sticker price, make sure
it’s not a scam.?? Often these
too-good-to-be-true programs are referred to as “discount health care plans.” These
programs are seldom—if ever—worth the money. If you’re having trouble finding
coverage through a standard private insurance plan, it’s best to go with a
state-sponsored one.
