Start shopping for cheap car insurance - automakers have a deal for you!
As part of a plan to revive consumer confidence and boost sales, Ford has joined several other leading automakers in offering a plan that gives buyers financial protection if they lose their jobs.
While it remains to be seen if the move will get consumers into Ford dealerships and online in search of cheap car insurance, the announcement could be somewhat reassuring to those who are uncertain about their employment but are still interested in a new car.
According to the company, people who buy a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle and then lose their job can have their payments covered for 12 months.
Not to be outdone, General Motors announced its own customer protection plan this week in which people who lose their jobs after buying a vehicle can have payments of up to $500 covered for nine months. Both plans follow on the heels of one unveiled by Hyundai several months ago.
The entire auto industry has faced great difficulty during the recession due to credit factors and unemployment. Consumers have had just as tough a time, though there have been recent signs of positive economic news. With so many dealers now offering great bargains, this might be a good time to get cheap car insurance and that new car some have been dreaming of.
