Try researching some term life insurance quotes
Consumers don't have to be worried about shopping for term life insurance quotes in the current economy, since the industry is generally seen as financially stable.
According to the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, property and casualty insurance companies recorded a combined net profit of $2.4 billion in 2008. This was driven down from the previous year's $62.5 billion overall profit because of the recession and financial market turmoil.
The industry organization noted that insurers had a combined $1.2 trillion available to cover any other losses and contingencies, illustrating their overall soundness.
"We watch these companies and their capital levels carefully. At the moment, they have enough money that they can pay clients. In the long run, they are viable," Terri Vaughn of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners was quoted as saying in a MarketWatch report.
The report also noted that credit rating agencies were generally optimistic about the state of the insurance industry, as well as several analysts who spoke to the news agency. Another positive sign for the industry, according to MarketWatch, is that stories of more Americans cashing in policies or skipping payments so far seem to be mostly hearsay.
Vaughn was quoted as saying that the NAIC is not seeing significant increases in payouts, even though it is watching for them. Given these factors, consumers should be able to shop for term life insurance quotes or other related products with peace of mind.
