The rising cost of healthcare has made it more important than ever for consumers to be thorough when shopping for health insurance quotes.
This is especially true when considering a new survey from the Henry J. Kaiser Foundation showing that large numbers of Americans have cut back on healthcare expenditures to help them make ends meet during the recession.
In numbers released this week, 42 percent of those surveyed acknowledged that they have relied on home remedies or over-the-counter drugs in place of doctor visits, while 36 percent said they have been skipping dental appointments and medical checkups. The poll also found that 29 percent had cut costs by declining to fill a prescription, while 18 percent said they cut pills in half or skipped doses outright in order to save money.
The poll found that 26 percent of those surveyed have someone in their household who has struggled to pay medical bills over the past year.
With so many Americans having a hard time with expenses of every kind, including medical bills, the importance of shopping for the right health insurance quotes cannot be stressed enough.
