Shopping for life insurance quotes is important even for the youngest generation of workers, especially in light of recent statistics showing that more members of Generation Y are now getting married and starting families.
An annual survey of employee benefits trends from a leading life insurance company finds that about one-third of workers from Generation Y, or those in the 21-32 age group, say they have no life insurance, while only about 20 percent of their older colleagues can say the same thing.
The survey found that 49 percent of workers from Generation Y are married, and 46 percent of them have children.
The recession also seems to be fueling interest in learning more about workplace benefits and insurance. A total of 45 percent said they had become more interested in learning about their employee benefit plans, while 52 percent said they are interested in working with employer-provided financial planners on retirement savings.
Typically, workers are advised to have life insurance coverage equivalent to about seven to ten years of their annual salary. Married workers and those who have children are advised to carry at least some insurance to protect their families' financial future. Considering such factors, a worker is never too young to start checking for life insurance quotes.
