Free Health Insurance Eludes Some More than Others
There's no such thing as free health insurance, especially for those who happen to suffer from pre-existing conditions.
However, a recent report on CNN.com advised consumers on how to obtain coverage if they are in the individual insurance market and facing high premiums or denied applications because of pre-existing conditions.
The situation can be difficult for those who are unable to work and receive employer-provided health coverage in the process.
Among the suggestions were to see about becoming a "group of one," depending on state by state insurance regulations. For those who are being laid off, the report advises workers to get COBRA coverage, despite its cost, or to apply for a new insurance policy within 63 days with a state-designated insurer of last resort.
At least 30 states are also said to offer high risk insurance pools, while professional organizations are cited by CNN as another possible source of insurance coverage. Free health insurance might be out of the question, but good affordable coverage for everyone is still available.
