Survey: Americans See Quality in Their Individual Health Insurance

A new survey finds that most Americans are satisfied with the quality of their individual health insurance.

According to Rasmussen Reports, 70 percent of insured Americans rate their coverage as good or excellent, while 23 percent say it is fair and 6 percent call it poor.

The poll also found that 70 percent of insured Americans say the healthcare they receive is either good or excellent, compared to 62 percent of those who lack insurance. These results are said to be virtually unchanged from a survey the polling outfit conducted last July.

Also in the survey, 26 percent of consumers, both with and without insurance, acknowledged that health insurance costs had resulted in them missing credit card, rent or mortgage payments.

Access to coverage tends to break down considerably among income groups, with almost half (44 percent) of those earning under $20,000 reporting that they don’t have insurance, while the vast majority of those earning over $40,000 say they do have insurance.

In other results, Rasmussen found that older Americans were more likely than younger consumers to say they have good quality individual health insurance.
