Saving Money on Health Insurance Coverage Can be Difficult
Many people in the market for health insurance coverage are self-employed and trying to find policies that balance affordability with their healthcare needs.
A recent New York Times report focuses on the issues that self-employed people encounter as they try to save on coverage, which is especially difficult in that region. The newspaper notes that individual healthcare policies have increased by as much as 15 percent a year for about a decade.
People who are self-employed can gain access to some plans as sole proprietors, further holding down costs with high deductibles. However, rules for sole proprietors are said to vary from state to state.
The Times notes that some professionals can find coverage plans through various chambers of commerce or other associations, while other possibilities include getting a part time job that offers coverage or consulting with insurance brokers.
With so many things that they're responsible for, the last thing a self-employed person wants is to worry about where their health insurance coverage is coming from.
