A recent survey finds that many drivers are spending less time on the road because of the economy - something that in some cases can save them money on their next car insurance quote.
The study by a prominent auto financing and insurance company finds that 30 percent of consumers are planning to drive less in the coming year, with 74 percent saying they are worried about the economy. The poll also found 24 percent motivated to drive less because they need to cut expenses associated with financial problems.
The survey also found that the vast majority of drivers, 93 percent, had never heard of "pay as you go" auto insurance plans, which determine policy rates based on the number of miles one drives. About one-third of those in the survey said that they would be intrigued by such an option depending on whether their own insurance company offers it.
Still, this isn't the only way for people to save money by driving less. Along with saving on costs like gasoline and vehicle maintenance, many drivers will find that their auto insurance company offers discounts for reduced mileage. Such an option could be especially attractive to those who telecommute at least part of the time.
Either way, driving less is an increasingly good way to hold down the cost of that next car insurance quote.
