Guard against Fraud When Shopping for Free Insurance Quotes
A leading industry organization is reminding consumers to be on guard against fraud when seeking out free insurance quotes.
According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, fraud is a growing problem that has been fueled by economic uncertainty - and it's not just among policy holders. Some unscrupulous agents and companies can be part of the problem as well. The NAIC warns against simply selecting the cheapest policy available. With that in mind, consumers can protect themselves simply by carefully reviewing the terms of their policy and doing some research on the insurance company itself.
"What seems too good to be true often is. Consumers need to be extremely careful not to take a shortcut with their insurance, which, in the long-term, can affect the safety and security of themselves and their loved ones," said NAIC CEO Therese Vaughan.
Along with checking up on the insurance provider with their state's insurance department, consumers should consider it a red flag if they don't receive an insurance identification card or a copy of their policy in a timely manner. To avoid becoming a victim of fraud, be sure to do your research carefully when shopping for free insurance quotes.
