A recent study has found that New York City tends to have the nation's highest road rage levels, a factor that can affect the price of online insurance quotes. The AutoVantage Road Rage Survey said that New York had unseated Miami after that city spent the previous four years as the nation's road rage capital.

Along with New York, the rest of the top five were Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Atlanta and Minneapolis/St. Paul. The most courteous driving city in the U.S. was said to be Portland, Oregon, followed by Cleveland, Baltimore, Sacramento and Pittsburgh.

Road rage is triggered by many different factors and can often be set off by unsafe behavior exhibited in other cars, including talking on the cell phone or driving aggressively. In general, motorists are advised to steer clear of aggressive or erratic drivers because of the unsafe conditions they create.
