A Free Car Insurance Quote is Just One Way for Drivers to Save
Consumers who hope to save money with a free car insurance quote may be turning out to be less thrifty when it comes to changing their driving habits in response to the recession.
According to Rasmussen Research, recent survey results show that relatively few Americans are saving money on commuting costs by carpooling, taking public transportation or buying energy efficient vehicles like hybrids.
The survey found that 80 percent of consumers expect the cost of gas to be an influence on their next vehicle purchase. However, only 10 percent called it "very likely" that their next car will be a hybrid, numbers that have remained largely unchanged since last October, when the recession was still in its earlier stages.
Many consumers aren't taking advantage of other ways to save money on transportation. For example, only 8 percent reported that they have used public transportation in the past year to get to work, while only 17 percent said they have carpooled to work.
The high gasoline costs of last summer may be largely a thing of the past, but the recession is still very much a reality. With that in mind, saving money on transportation can start as simply as getting a free car insurance quote.
