House insurance is an investment that no homeowner should be without - especially now that scientists have determined that El Nino weather conditions will be in place across the U.S. for up to a year.
According to a bulletin from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, an increase of water temperatures and other weather trends, commonly known as El Nino, will affect the U.S. through this winter and possibly for as long as a year.
One effect of an El Nino condition is said to be an increase in storms in various regions of the country, including the South and California, which can cause serious damage to homes. The American Southwest also tends to receive more rain than usual during these periods.
The good news for homeowners along the East Coast is that the Atlantic hurricane season tends to be weaker during such weather patterns.
Given the unpredictable weather that El Nino often brings however, now may be the time to make sure one's house insurance policy is up to date and provides sufficient coverage.
