Homeowners Insurance Quotes Likely to Benefit from New Technology

Consumers may see their homeowners insurance quotes quotes benefit in the coming years from recent advances in storm tracking technology.

A recent announcement from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that government scientists have made gains in detecting short-lived tropical storms and similar weather events that can last as little as two days.

These advances have led to an increase in statistics showing that contrary to previous beliefs, the storms are not actually becoming more common. As of 1878, about one of these short-lived storms per year was discovered. Now, scientists detect about five of them each year before they fade.

The NOAA cited at least six of these storms from the 2007 and 2008 hurricane seasons that were identified as tropical storms because of satellite technology, as well as the agency's Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit, among other factors.

While these storms are short-lived, they can still cause damage upon reaching land, giving scientists another valuable tool to work with when it comes to being better prepared against property damage and the higher homeowners insurance quotes that often go with it.
