Consumers Can Save With Low-Cost Cars and a Good Auto Insurance Quote

It's widely known that a low-cost auto insurance quote can save money, but consumers can go one step further by educating themselves about which cars cost the least to own.

A recent article in Yahoo's Finance section focuses on the 10 least expensive vehicles to drive, something that could interest many people in the current economic climate.

According to the report, the cheapest car to keep on the road is the Hyundai Accent GS, which is said to cost an average of 35 cents per mile, based on driving 15,000 miles per year. Rounding out the top three were the Nissan Versa Base (36 cents per mile) and the Chevrolet Aveo LS (38 cents per mile).

Smaller vehicles from Pontiac, Toyota, Honda and Nissan comprised the rest of the top 10, all of them averaging 39 cents per mile in costs. The article used a calculation tool available on Edmunds.com that weighs factors like insurance, repair costs and more for different vehicles.

Overall, consumers can save hundreds of dollars a year by finding the right auto insurance quote - but keeping a car on the road can be a far more expensive proposition in the long term.
