Cost of Student Health Insurance One Part of the Equation
Parents who focus heavily on just the price of student health insurance may sometimes overlook the long-term well being of their children when it comes to developing the right eating and exercise habits.
Poor health decisions early in life can lead to serious long-term medical issues later, and the increased costs and other difficulties that come with them.
In fact, an Associated Press report even recently featured a study from British scientists which found that along with facing greater diabetes and heart disease risks, children who eat too much sugar in their early years may also be at risk of engaging in more violent behavior as adults.
The research out of the UK's Cardiff University reportedly found that children with the worst diets tended to be impulsive risk takers more prone to committing serious crimes. According to data from a long-term study of 17,000 British people born during the same week in 1970, 69 percent of people convicted of a violent act had reported eating candy every day at age 10.
While the jury is still out on the significance and accuracy of such research, it is still well-documented that a poor diet in childhood can cause a number of different problems in adulthood. This, along with the cost of student health insurance, is just one more things to parents to consider.
