People who want to hold down the cost of their car insurance quotes are being reminded to be extra cautious when it comes to bicycles this fall.
That's because more students tend to be using bicycles in the autumn months to get to school, and more adults prefer to ride in the cooler summer months, according to the Insurance Information Institute.
"Bike riding is not only good for the environment, it is a healthy way to relax, enjoy the fall foliage and get some exercise. Learning how to be a responsible cyclist, however, can reduce injuries and save lives," said Jeanne Salvatore of the I.I.I.
Recent studies have found that despite a popular image of cyclists being less inclined to obey traffic laws and things like stop signs, they are statistically only responsible for as little as 10 percent of all collisions with vehicles.
People who ride bikes can do their part by wearing bright colors so motorists can spot them more easily, while drivers can help by giving them plenty of room and passing them at a reasonable speed. With some caution, drivers can go far when it comes securing reasonably priced car insurance quotes.
