Workplace Changes Could Have More Seeking Affordable Health Insurance
The recession has produced more than one story about rising health costs that have already forced a number of companies to scale back benefits or eliminate them, leaving more people to seek affordable health insurance on their own.
However, the rising cost of premiums isn't the only thing consumers have to be wary of in the current economic environment.
A recent USA Today report offers more insight into the situation by noting that employers are generally requiring workers to share a higher portion of their healthcare costs as they wait to see what kind of health reforms end up coming from Congress.
The newspaper notes that co-payments are vanishing from many plans and are instead being replaced by requirements to pay an actual percentage of health costs. Plans with high deductibles are also said to be growing in popularity, and companies are also reportedly more inclined to conduct audits to make sure all of a worker's dependents are actually eligible for a plan.
Despite the difficulties many face in finding affordable health insurance, there are still numerous strategies people can follow that will let them hold costs down at least somewhat.
