The current media concern over the H1N1 virus is bringing new attention to a key reason to take the time to shop for the right health insurance quote.
Doctors across the country have been advising people to get an H1N1 vaccination as well as their regular flu vaccinations.
However, a Wall Street Journal report cites government data showing that many Americans are failing to get a number of other advised vaccinations. For example, only 52 percent of adults are said to be current on their tetanus boosters, while only 42 percent of at-risk adults are reportedly current on meningitis shots.
Still, earlier this year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that childhood immunization rates remain relatively high and stable nationwide.
Those with insurance are more likely to make regular doctor visits and to keep up on basic medical procedures like vaccinations. With that in mind, taking the time to shop for a health insurance quote and to find the right policy, Americans can do far more than just save money and protect themselves from financially ruinous medical bills.
