Food Allergies Drive Home Importance of Family Medical Insurance
For parents of children with food allergies, family medical insurance can be an absolutely crucial investment.
The issue was in the spotlight recently as a group of children suffering from serious food allergies appeared on Capitol Hill to speak to lawmakers about the importance of funding research into the problem.
According to the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, some 3 million American children suffer from food allergies that can potentially be life threatening. Another 9 million adults are said to have similar medical issues.
A recent Boston Globe report quoted one high school student as pointing out that there is no cure for food allergies and that the only way to manage them is to simply avoid unmarked packages and things one is allergic to. The newspaper notes that some affected people can die within minutes and that allergic episodes often involve swelling of the throat and tongue.
Given the severe health reactions that people with food allergies can have if they accidentally consume the wrong product, the importance of finding the right family medical insurance policy can be crucial.
