People who want to lower their homeowners insurance quote can often get off to a good start by making sure they're doing everything possible to lower the risk of fire.
Despite the obvious financial and safety benefits of doing whatever is possible to minimize fire dangers, a nonprofit safety organization is pointing out that relatively few people take such steps.
According to the Home Safety Council, only 37 percent of homeowners in a recent survey said that they had taken actions in their house to lower fire dangers. The organization recently announced that it is partnering with the National Fire Sprinkler Association to further boost awareness of fire safety.
With that in mind, 41 percent of homeowners were said to be unaware that fire sprinklers are an option for private residences. This feature has become increasingly common in newly constructed homes.
Items such as sprinklers, fire ladders and other safety features often result in a discount on one's policy, as do other items like burglar alarms and smoke detectors. Some investments in peace of mind can also result in a lower homeowners insurance quote.
