Employers Respond Differently to Cost of Health Insurance Coverage
The rising cost of health insurance coverage has led companies to respond in a variety of different ways, from cutting back on benefits to finding inexpensive new side benefits for workers.
One such example can be found in an Associated Press report which cited an increase in recent months of voluntary benefit sales, which includes things like disability insurance, optional life insurance and dental insurance.
Companies can reportedly benefit by keeping their employers longer with more attractive benefit packages at a relatively low cost.
Elsewhere, a life insurance company in New York recently advised employers that they can also check health insurance plans for any available free perks and other low-cost benefits, and to consider opening a flexible spending account to help result in even lower out-of-pocket medical costs.
Still, not every company can stay afloat in the current economy, especially given the overall price of good health insurance coverage. This has led more employers to scale back benefits or eliminate them outright, putting more workers into the private market.
