Small Business Owners Should be Informed about Home and Auto Insurance
For people who run a small business out of the house, it's especially important to know all about what's covered under the current home and auto insurance policies.
Running a small business could invite various liability issues if clients come into one's home and end up injured as a result of a fall. Another insurance issue would focus on allowing employees or others to drive one's personal vehicles.
A recent Associated Press report advised business owners to specifically ban texting in any of their vehicles, and to keep safety and maintenance procedures such as proper tire inflation and oil changes up-to-date.
The Insurance Information Institute advises homeowners that standard policies may not cover business-related losses such as harm that is done to equipment, records and inventory. Policy holders should also be well aware of what their deductibles would be under various insurance policies and scenarios.
The Institute also adds that homeowners can often get an additional endorsement on their current policies to cover small-scale business activities, and that some entrepreneurs may benefit by considering various packages involving home and auto insurance and other relevant products that may be available.
