Ethics in Business Award

InsureMe Awarded for Ethics in Business

By Maribeth Neelis

DENVER -- March 10, 2008 -- Robin Paquette, chief operating officer of Englewood-based InsureMe, was announced as a recipient of the annual Colorado Ethics in Business Award for 2008.

One of four winners this year, Paquette was chosen for giving the employees of InsureMe a greater sense of purpose and developing a values-based culture where employees are motivated by teamwork and accountability rather than fear.

"Ethics should not be an anomaly," says Paquette, 48. "At InsureMe, we let our mission of 'do the right thing' guide us, not only at work, but all the time. It isn't ethics in business, it's just ethics."

The Colorado Ethics in Business Alliance (CEBA) co-sponsors are ColoradoBiz magazine, the Daniels College of Business and the Samaritan Institute.

"The award was created to recognize exemplary business people and to encourage discussion on the topic of business ethics," according to Mike Taylor, managing editor of ColoradoBiz magazine.  "The award is given to individuals who have a winning business strategy that is carried out in an ethical manner."

"For Robin, ethics in business has always been a given. The values he espouses in his personal and professional life-love, integrity, leadership and innovation-are now a deep-seated part of InsureMe," said Tim McTavish, the president and CEO of InsureMe.

InsureMe is an insurance referral service for auto, home, life, health and long term care insurance. Along with 53 consecutive profitable quarters, InsureMe has a thriving charitable giving program, donating 10 percent of profits to charitable causes, including more than $100,000 to charities chosen by employees in 2007.

The winners will be honored at the Colorado Ethics in Business Alliance (CEBA) awards luncheon on March 20 at the Denver Marriott City Center. Former Colorado Gov. Richard D. Lamm will be the keynote speaker.

Winners also are profiled in the March issue of ColoradoBiz.
